Job Title – Group Manager, Diaspora Banking
Reports to – Head of High Value Segments & Wealth Management
Location – Flexible
Direct Reports – Regional Heads, Diaspora Banking (Francophone Regions & Anglophone Regions)
JOB PURPOSE
The Group Manager, Diaspora Banking is responsible for developing, driving, and overseeing Ecobank’s Diaspora Banking strategy across the network. The role focuses on designing compelling value propositions for Diaspora communities, expanding cross-border banking and remittance flows, deepening customer engagement, and ensuring segment profitability. The incumbent will lead regional Diaspora teams, build strategic partnerships, enhance customer experience, and ensure consistency and operational alignment across affiliates.
JOB CONTEXT
The Diaspora segment is a critical growth driver for Ecobank, linking Africans living abroad to financial services across the continent. It has strong revenue potential through remittance flows, deposit mobilization, offshore wealth servicing, investment solutions, and international payment corridors. The role operates in a multi-country, multi-regulatory environment and requires close partnership with affiliates, Remittance & Fintech teams, Wealth & Premier, Digital Channels, FIIO, and Compliance. The Group Manager must deeply understand Diaspora financial behaviors, country corridor dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and competitive offerings to ensure Ecobank remains the preferred bank for Africans abroad.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business and Financial performance
• Develop and execute the Group Diaspora Banking strategy, including segment positioning, growth plans, and corridor expansion.
• Drive revenue and profitability growth across Diaspora customer portfolios in all affiliates.
• Set, track, and report performance targets (deposit growth, remittance volume, customer acquisition, cost-to-serve, etc.).
• Expand Diaspora product offerings—accounts, savings, investment solutions, mortgages, remittances, debit/credit cards, and international services.
• Support affiliates with business planning, forecasting, and performance improvement actions.
• Identify and build commercial partnerships with global community organizations, employers, consulates, exchange houses, fintechs, and international ecosystem players.
Customer Excellence
• Develop compelling Diaspora customer value propositions tailored by region and corridor.
• Drive exceptional customer experience through standardized service models and personalized engagement.
• Ensure product and service consistency across affiliates servicing Diaspora customers.
• Strengthen cross-border customer onboarding and account maintenance processes to ensure seamless service.
• Track customer feedback, complaints, and experience indicators to continuously improve service delivery.
Leadership and people management
• Lead and provide strategic direction to Regional Diaspora Banking Heads.
• Foster collaboration and alignment between affiliates to enable corridor development and customer transfers.
• Develop talent pipelines, build product and segment capabilities, and coach teams for growth delivery.
• Promote a culture of accountability, performance discipline, and customer-centric thinking.
• Manage performance scorecards, perform regular business reviews, and ensure delivery to targets.
Process, control and operational performance
• Ensure strong governance and operational controls for onboarding, KYC/AML compliance, and remittance flows.
• Work with Legal/Compliance to ensure frameworks meet regulatory requirements in both sending and receiving markets.
• Strengthen processes for cross-border service support, diaspora onboarding, loan processing, and repatriation services.
• Collaborate with Digital Banking & IT to digitize workflows and enhance service efficiency.
• Maintain operational process documentation, SLAs, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strategic initiatives
• Expand strategic corridors linking African Diaspora populations globally.
• Lead development of digital engagement platforms, Diaspora communities, events, and ecosystem partnerships.
• Champion diaspora-focused brand and marketing campaigns across target diaspora hubs.
• Explore and pilot innovative products such as Diaspora mortgages, diaspora remittance-linked investments, and global-educational financing offerings.
• Drive integration with Wealth & Premier, Remittance & BaaS, and Corporate Banking to deepen customer lifetime value.

JOB PROFILE
Experience & Qualification
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field; Master’s/MBA preferred.
▪ Minimum of 8–12 years’ experience in Retail/Commercial Banking, International Banking, Remittances, or Wealth Management.
▪ Experience working with Diaspora customers, cross-border payments, or international community ecosystems strongly preferred.
▪ Demonstrated track record in strategy execution and business growth.
▪ Experience managing multi-country or matrix-managed teams is an advantage.
▪ Bilingual (English/French) required; additional languages advantageous.
